Baby's first Christmas

Despite the RSV and house arrest, we managed to have a wonderful Christmas! On the 23rd (before Gavin was really sick) we had Rob's sister Allison and her family over. Here you can see Gavin with his only cousins on Rob's side: Ellie, Vicki, and Lexi.
We ate food, played video games, and just had a lot of fun!

On Christmas Eve we had a visit from one of Santa's helpers.
Hahaha!! Isn't he too cute?!

We continued our Christmas Eve tradition of making ridiculously delicious sandwiches with whatever we can think to put on them. Here we have avocado, tomato, cheddar cheese, and cucumber.
Here we have Ciabatta rolls and sauteed onions.
Not pictured are the mustard, bacon, Provolone cheese, lettuce, honey baked deli ham, and some fancy kind of deli turkey (can't remember what kind we settled on).

And the perfect finishing touch: salt and vinegar chips on the side! Aren't they beautiful? (Can you tell that one of us is a bit more picky than the other? There's more on my sandwich than you can see; I forgot to dress it up for the picture. But still, Rob's definitely has more stuff on it than mine.)
(Also, can you tell that we take our sandwiches very seriously? :)

A tradition we each had during our childhood and picked back up is getting new pajamas for Christmas Eve. Here is Gavin on Christmas day in his new jammies.
We spent the day taking it easy and eating tons of goodies. My parents brought some dinner to us--ham, funeral potatoes (which I have been craving for months!), homemade bread, and my favorite dessert in the world, known in my family as Ice Cream Dessert. (I know, quite the fancy/original name.) I should have taken a picture of that, but it was gone too quickly because it is SO GOOD!

We video chatted with each of our families, put Gavin to bed by 7:00, and watched a movie. Definitely a different Christmas from any I've had before, but it was kind of nice just to relax and be with each other. We enjoyed our last year of being lazy on Christmas day for a long, long while.

Uh, yes, he IS too cute! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE both the Santa outfit and his new jammies. (Austin got a little ripped off this year in the jammies department, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy him yet another pair when he already has something like 12 pairs!)

So glad you got to visit with Gavin's other cousins, especially since you don't get to see them often.

Oh, and we've picked up your sandwich tradition, but apparently we're not taking it nearly seriously enough! And I looked for some fancy bread, but I think Macey's isn't the place to go for that. Maybe next year we'll have to just drop in ... ;) Glad you had a great Christmas with cutie-pants!

I love your sandwich tradition. I might have to do that next year. What a trend-setter you are! Those sandwiches look sooo good. I need to eat one right now! Is 9:30 am too early for that?

Seeing these great pictures makes up for not seeing all of you on Christmas Day! Glad that Allie's crew got to spend time with you before Gavin got sick. What a cutie and we're so glad he's getting better. Love the fun Santa suit and jammies. Hoping to visit soon and drop off belated Christmas gifts. The sandwiches look yummy!
