In case I haven't already told you in person, our trip to Cancun was fabulous! It was exactly what we needed--a whole lot of doing nothing. Our typical daily routine consisted of (in no particular order):
-sleeping in
-having a huge breakfast at our hotel's buffet
-exercising in the amazing fitness center (multiple treadmills, ellipticals, stationary bikes, and stair climbers all with built-in tv's, plus ~10 weight machines)--and yes, my ideal vacation does include exercise
-going to the pool; sometimes we would just hang out, sometimes we would get in to swim or hit a volleyball around
-going to the beach
-maybe watching a bit of tv
-eating whatever delicious food tickled our fancy that day

Everything was deserted, which was really nice in some ways, and not so nice in other ways. We loved having the beach and pool to ourselves, as well as the ruins at Chichen Itza. We did not enjoy having flea market workers hound us to buy their uninteresting products or having an entire restaurant's staff waiting on us--we enjoy anonymity and being left alone.

This trip was a glorious nine days and eight nights of unwinding. Here are a few pics for those of you not on Facebook Allison to enjoy.

The beautiful clear blue water was the perfect temperature!

The steps from our pool went straight to the beach.

This beach was a couple miles south of our hotel.

The ruins at Chichen Itza--totally amazing!

I guess our only real regret is that our traveling duck didn't have such a great time:
We forgot him at home! We both felt terrible once we realized, but we were already in Mexico. Don't worry, the duck has plenty of advocates and we have been thoroughly reprimanded for this oversight. Everyone is so touchy about it--what's it going to be like when we forget one of our kids at home?

I did it - I finally graduated! My sister, Denise, let us borrow her wickedly sweet camera to take pictures that day. Take a look:

It was a great day! It started out with an hour-long Swedish massage plus foot massage--I had a gift certificate that Rob had given to me for my birthday way back in September, and I think I waited for the perfect moment to use it. After that, I went shopping and bought some totally cute shoes!

The ceremony itself was short and sweet, relatively speaking; it only took about an hour. The best part was being with loving people who were excited for me--my parents, Rob's parents, and most of all, my sweetest husband ever, Rob. (xox)

Here's a pic with my pharmacy school BFF's:

From left to right: Ann, Angeleena, Lisa, me, Britta

After all the pomp and circumstance we had lunch at one of my old-time favorites, Red Robin. Mmmmm. All in all, it was a really great day and I just couldn't wipe that silly grin off my face. :)

and this one:

Rebecca is graduating this Friday with a doctorate degree from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. Believe me when I say she has worked very hard and gone through a lot to get where she is today. This is an enormous accomplishment and I couldn't be more happy for her. Too, too proud of you babes, love ya.
